IMEI Number Generator

IMEI Number Generator

Generate valid IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers for testing and development purposes. Each generated IMEI uses realistic Type Allocation Code (TAC) prefixes from known manufacturers and a valid Luhn check digit, making them structurally correct for software testing, QA validation, and educational use.

Preguntas frecuentes

  1. What is an IMEI number and what is it used for?

An IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 15-digit number assigned to every mobile device. It is used by carriers to identify valid devices on their networks, and can be used to block stolen phones from accessing cellular services.

  2. How does the Luhn algorithm work for IMEI validation?

The Luhn algorithm calculates a check digit by doubling every second digit from the right, subtracting 9 from results greater than 9, summing all digits, and computing the value needed to make the total a multiple of 10. This check digit is appended as the 15th digit of the IMEI.

  3. What is a TAC (Type Allocation Code) in an IMEI?

The TAC is the first 8 digits of an IMEI number. It identifies the device manufacturer and model. TACs are assigned by the GSMA (GSM Association) and are used globally to track and identify mobile device types.

  4. Can generated IMEI numbers be used on real networks?

These IMEI numbers are structurally valid but are generated for testing purposes only. Using a generated IMEI on a real device to impersonate another device is illegal in many jurisdictions. They should only be used for software development, QA testing, and educational purposes.
