Unified Color Space Converter
Paste a color in any common format and instantly see it represented across nine color spaces side by side. The converter auto-detects HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV/HSB, CMYK, CIE LAB, LCH, CIE XYZ, Oklab, and CSS named colors, then computes every other representation using full sRGB gamma correction and the standard D65 white point. A live swatch preview and one-click copy for every value make it a fast pickup tool for designers, developers, print teams, and anyone who needs precise colorimetry without rolling their own math.
Cara Penggunaan
- Type or paste a color value into the Color Value field. Any common format works:
#464aff,rgb(70, 74, 255),hsl(238, 100%, 64%),lab(45 35 -85),oklab(0.5 0.1 -0.05),cmyk(72%, 71%, 0%, 0%), or a CSS name such ascornflowerblue. - Optionally drag the native color picker to choose a color visually; the picker and text field stay in sync.
- The detected input format is shown as a badge in the preview. All other color spaces populate automatically.
- Click the copy icon next to any output to copy that representation to the clipboard.
- Itu Nearest CSS Name field surfaces the closest standard CSS color along with its ΔE76 distance for quick palette decisions.
Fitur
- Nine color spaces at once – HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV/HSB, CMYK, CIE LAB, LCH, CIE XYZ (D65), and Oklab side by side.
- Auto-detect input – Paste any format and the parser figures it out, including modern
lab(),lch(),oklab(), and CSS named colors. - Accurate colorimetry – sRGB gamma encode/decode, Bradford-aligned D65 matrices, and Björn Ottosson’s Oklab matrices for perceptually correct results.
- Tampilan pra-visualisasi langsung – See the exact rendered color alongside its HEX and RGB strings as you type.
- Nearest CSS color name – ΔE76 lookup against the full CSS named color list for quick visual labelling.
- Salin sekali klik – Every output row has a copy button so you can move values directly into design files or code.
- Pure client-side math – Everything runs locally in your browser; no color values are ever sent to a server.
Tanya Jawab Umum
-
What is the difference between CIE LAB and Oklab?
CIE LAB has been the standard perceptually uniform color space since 1976 and is widely used in print and color science. Oklab, introduced by Björn Ottosson in 2020, was specifically tuned to fix LAB's known weaknesses around hue uniformity, especially in the blue range. Oklab generally produces smoother gradients and more predictable hue rotations, which is why CSS Color Level 4 promotes it for modern web color work.
-
Why does the same color have different values in LAB versus XYZ?
CIE XYZ describes a color in terms of three imaginary primaries that span the human visible gamut, with values that are linear in light intensity. CIE LAB is a non-linear transform of XYZ designed to be roughly perceptually uniform, so equal numeric distances in LAB correspond more closely to equal perceived differences. They describe the same color, but XYZ is intended for color science calculations and LAB is intended for measuring perceived differences.
-
Why is CMYK only an approximation?
True CMYK output depends on the specific inks, paper, and printer being used, which is captured in an ICC profile. A device-independent CMYK estimate, like the one this tool produces, applies a simple subtractive model on top of sRGB and ignores the physical printing process. It is useful for rough conversions but should never replace a soft proof through the actual destination ICC profile when accuracy matters.
-
What does the ΔE value next to the nearest CSS name mean?
ΔE (delta E) is a single number that summarises how different two colors look to a human observer in the LAB color space. ΔE76 is the original 1976 formula and is what this tool reports. As a rough guide, a ΔE under 1 is essentially indistinguishable, under 2 is barely noticeable in side-by-side comparison, and above 10 is clearly a different color.
-
Why do some LAB or Oklab values produce clipped RGB results?
LAB, LCH, Oklab, and XYZ can describe colors that lie outside the sRGB gamut, meaning they cannot be displayed accurately on a standard monitor. When a converted RGB value would fall below 0 or above 255, this tool clamps each channel into the displayable range. The visible color is the closest in-gamut approximation rather than a faithful reproduction of the original out-of-gamut color.
