Email Normalizer

Email Normalizer

The Email Normalizer tool standardizes email addresses by applying common normalization rules. It removes dots from Gmail-style local parts, strips plus (+) aliases, converts addresses to lowercase, and removes duplicates. This is useful for deduplication, data cleaning, and identifying unique email accounts.

Como usar

Enter one or more email addresses, one per line. Toggle the normalization options to control which rules are applied: dot removal for Gmail addresses, plus alias stripping, lowercase conversion, and duplicate removal. The normalized results appear instantly in the output field, ready to copy or download.

Características

  • Gmail Dot Removal – Strips dots from the local part of Gmail and Googlemail addresses, since Gmail ignores them
  • Plus Alias Stripping – Removes everything after the + sign in the local part to reveal the base address
  • Domain Normalization – Converts googlemail.com to gmail.com for consistent results
  • Lowercase Conversion – Standardizes all email addresses to lowercase
  • Duplicate Removal – Automatically deduplicates emails after normalization

Perguntas frequentes

  1. Do dots actually matter in Gmail addresses?

No. Gmail ignores all dots in the local part of an email address. For example, john.doe@gmail.com and johndoe@gmail.com both deliver to the same inbox. This is a Gmail-specific behavior and does not apply to most other email providers.

  2. What is a plus alias in an email address?

A plus alias (also called sub-addressing) is a technique where you add a + sign followed by any text before the @ symbol. For example, user+shopping@gmail.com still delivers to user@gmail.com. It is commonly used for filtering and tracking signups.

  3. Why would you normalize email addresses?

Email normalization is used to identify duplicate accounts, clean mailing lists, and reduce redundant entries in databases. Without normalization, the same person might appear multiple times under variations of their email address.
