Quickly calculate the number of hours and minutes between any two times. Whether you’re tracking work hours, planning schedules, or calculating shift durations, this tool gives you an instant, accurate result.
How to Use
1. Enter a Start Time using the time picker or by typing in HH:MM format.
2. Enter an End Time the same way.
3. The duration is calculated automatically and displayed instantly.
The calculator handles overnight durations — if the end time is earlier than the start time, it assumes the end time is on the following day.

FAQ
-
How do you calculate hours between two times?
Subtract the start time from the end time. Convert both times to minutes (hours x 60 + minutes), find the difference, then convert back to hours and minutes. If the end time is smaller, add 24 hours (1440 minutes) to account for crossing midnight.
-
What is the difference between elapsed time and clock time?
Elapsed time is the actual duration that passes between two moments — it measures how long something took. Clock time refers to the specific reading on a clock at a given moment (e.g., 3:45 PM). Elapsed time is a duration; clock time is a point in time.
-
How do overnight or cross-midnight durations work?
When the end time is earlier than the start time on the clock (e.g., 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM), the calculation assumes the end time falls on the next calendar day. This adds 24 hours to the end time before subtracting, giving you the correct elapsed duration.
