What is iotools.cloud?
iotools.cloud is a free collection of browser-based tools — converters, generators, calculators, formatters and more — for developers, designers and anyone who needs a quick utility without installing anything.
Do I need an account to use the tools?
Almost none. Every browser-side tool works without signing in. A free account swaps the small daily guest allowance for a much larger monthly one, unlocks the AI tools, gives you an API key, and syncs favorites, presets and history across your devices.
Are the tools really free?
Yes. Almost every tool works without an account, and most run entirely in your browser, so your input never reaches our servers — ads pay for the ones that don't. The five AI tools are the exception: they need a free account, because each run bills us for a third-party model call.
How the tools work
Does my data ever leave my browser?
For most tools, no — they run entirely client-side, with zero network requests. A handful of heavier tools (certain file conversions, AI-assisted tools) need server-side processing; for those, your input is processed and discarded, never stored.
Which tools need the server, and why?
Only a small subset — mostly ones that need libraries or processing power a browser can't provide. Every tool page tells you upfront whether it runs in your browser or on our servers.
Is anything sent to the server stored or logged?
No. Whether a tool runs in your browser or briefly on our servers, we don't retain your input. Server-side tools also run behind guards that block requests to internal or private network addresses.
Credits & rate limits
What are credits?
Credits meter the tools that cost real money to run — the AI tools and the file converters — plus anything you call through the API or MCP server. Browser-side tools, the vast majority, cost nothing and are never metered. Signed-in accounts get a monthly allowance that resets on the 1st; signed-out visitors get a smaller daily one.
What happens when I run out of credits?
Metered tools return a clear "insufficient credits" error until the 1st of the next month. Everything browser-side keeps working as normal. The Builder plan carries a much larger allowance if you need more.
Are browser-only tools ever rate-limited?
Not in your browser — since they never touch our servers, there's nothing to limit. Server-side tools and every API call are capped at a set number of requests per minute, higher on the Builder plan. File conversions also have a cap on how many can run at once, so one person's batch can't hold up everyone else's.
Plans & billing
Is "Remove ads" a subscription?
No. It's a single payment and it never renews. Ads stay off your account for good, on every device you sign in on.
How do I manage or cancel my plan?
Everything lives in the Billing card on your account page, which opens the Stripe customer portal for invoices, cards and cancellation.
What's the refund policy?
Payments are handled by Stripe and we never see your card details. Credits are generally non-refundable once used, but if something went wrong with a purchase, contact us and we'll sort it out.
API, MCP & embeds
Is there a REST API?
Yes, and you don't need a paid plan for it. Any free account can create an API key at /account/#api-keys and use it as a Bearer token against api.iotools.cloud; the OpenAPI 3.1 spec is at api.iotools.cloud/v1/openapi. Every tool call costs credits against your monthly allowance, so that allowance doubles as your call quota — browsing the catalog is free.
Is there an MCP server for AI agents?
Yes — the Builder plan includes an MCP server so AI agents can call the tools directly, alongside the REST API.
Can I embed a tool on my own site?
Yes, on the Builder plan — embeds let you drop a single tool into your own site.
Account, data & support
How do I delete my account or my data?
Email hello@iotools.cloud with the subject "Data Erasure Request", or use the Contact form — we'll delete or anonymise your account and contact-form data, except where we're required to keep records for legal or security reasons.
Do you sell or share my data?
No. We never sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with staff or contractors who need it to run the site, or when required by law.
How do I report a bug or request a new tool?
Use the Contact form — bug reports, feature requests and tool suggestions all go to the same place, and we read every one.
