Sometimes a photo just needs to be a little (or a lot) darker — to tone down an overexposed shot, add mood to a background image, or improve text legibility when you're overlaying a caption. The Darken Image tool reduces brightness by a single adjustable amount, with no other side effects on color or contrast.
How it works
Upload an image, then adjust one slider:
- Darken Amount (%) — how much brightness to remove, from a subtle 1% dim to a heavily darkened 100%.
The result renders instantly as you move the slider. You can download the result as an SVG file, or copy its source markup directly.
Tips
- Small amounts (10–30%) are enough to add mood to a background photo without losing detail in shadows.
- Higher amounts (60%+) push toward near-black and work well for dramatic overlays or text-legibility backdrops.
- The downloaded SVG stays crisp at any size since it's a vector wrapper around your original image — resizing it doesn't lose quality the way a rasterized export would.
