What it does
Builds a filter: drop-shadow() declaration from sliders for offset, blur, color and opacity. Copy the result straight into your stylesheet.
drop-shadow vs box-shadow
box-shadow always shadows the element's rectangular box. filter: drop-shadow() shadows the rendered shape — it follows the alpha channel, so transparent PNGs, SVG icons, clipped elements and text get a shadow that hugs their real outline.
filter: drop-shadow(<offset-x> <offset-y> <blur-radius> <color>);Notes
drop-shadow()has no spread and no inset — usebox-shadowif you need either.- Chain several filters by listing them:
filter: drop-shadow(...) brightness(1.1);. See the CSS filter generator. - Blur is a radius, not a diameter, and larger values are more expensive to paint on big elements.
