Why this needs AI, not "just fetch the captions"
Unlike YouTube, Vimeo, or Dailymotion, Facebook doesn't publish a public captions or subtitle API — there's no free endpoint to just read a transcript from. So every run of this tool uses AI transcription: the video is located, downloaded, and transcribed word-for-word, whether or not the original post has any captions burned in or attached. That's also why it's a paid tool rather than a free one — a text or image tool here can run on our own compute, but transcribing real audio/video is a metered AI call every time.
How to use it
- Copy a Facebook video link — a Reel, a Watch video, a page's video post, or a share link (
facebook.com/share/r/…,fb.watch/…all work). - Paste it in and press Get transcript.
- Pick an output format — readable paragraphs, timestamped lines, plain text, or an SRT/WebVTT subtitle file — and copy or download the result.

The video has to be public — a private post, one restricted to a region or age group, or a removed video can't be transcribed, and the tool tells you up front (before charging anything) when a link doesn't resolve to a public video.
How long can a video be?
Facebook videos and Reels are usually short, so there's a length cap on how much a single run will transcribe — a very long Watch video may be rejected. If that happens, there's currently no way to transcribe just part of it.
Is this accurate?
It's AI-generated, so treat it as a close draft rather than a perfect transcript — background music, overlapping speakers, or heavy accents can trip it up like any speech-to-text system. Repeated-word glitches near silence or fades are automatically cleaned up before you see the result.
What if the link doesn't work?
If a link is really a private message, a Story, or a video that requires being logged in to view, there's nothing to transcribe — Facebook keeps that content behind a login wall we can't cross. Try a public post's own link instead of a link copied from inside the app.
