What's my IP address?
When the tool loads, it shows your current public IP — the address the rest of the internet sees you as, assigned by your ISP or network. This is different from your device's local IP (like 192.168.x.x), which only exists inside your home or office network and can't be looked up here.
How do I look up a different IP?
Type any IPv4 (e.g. 8.8.8.8) or IPv6 address into the box and press Look up. You'll get its approximate geographic location and the network it belongs to. Press My IP at any time to jump back to your own address.
How accurate is IP geolocation?
IP-based location is approximate — usually accurate to the country and city, but not to a street address. It reflects where the IP is registered or where the ISP routes it, which can be a nearby city, a data center, or the ISP's headquarters rather than the actual user. VPNs, proxies and mobile networks make it less accurate still. Treat it as a rough guide, not a precise position.
What do "ASN", "network" and "organization" mean?
These describe the network the IP belongs to rather than a person. The ASN (Autonomous System Number) identifies the network operator; the network is the block of addresses it sits in; the organization is usually the ISP or hosting company that owns it. Together they tell you who runs the connection.
Is my IP or my lookups private?
The lookups go directly from your browser to the geolocation service (ipapi.co) — they are not routed through, logged by, or stored on our servers. Your queries are subject to that third-party service's own terms and rate limits. If you look up many addresses quickly, the free service may temporarily rate-limit you.
Can I hide my IP?
Not with this tool — it reports what's visible. To change the IP sites see, use a VPN or proxy, which routes your traffic through a different server so the world sees that server's address instead of yours.
