Random US Zip Code Generator

Generate random real US zip codes — not made-up five-digit numbers. Every code in the pool of 40,000+ entries is an actual ZIP with its city, county and state, and you can limit the draw to a single state.

How to use it

1. Choose how many zip codes you want (1–40).
2. Pick a state, or leave it on Any state to draw from the whole country.
3. Hit Pick zip codes. Each run returns a fresh set with no duplicates, shown with the city, county and state each code belongs to.

Why real zip codes matter

Randomly generated five-digit numbers often don't exist as ZIP codes at all — forms with address validation will reject them. Because this tool draws from real entries, every result maps to an actual place, which makes it dependable for:

• Test data — populate staging databases and QA forms with addresses that pass ZIP validation.
• Sampling — pick random locations for surveys, mystery shopping or market research.
• Geography games — draw a code and find it on the map, or quiz friends on which state it's in.
• Writing and worldbuilding — ground a scene in a real (random) town.

Can I generate zip codes for one state only?

Yes. The State dropdown filters the pool to a single state (all 50 states plus the District of Columbia are covered), so you can draw, say, only California or only Texas codes.

Are these zip codes tied to real people?

No. A ZIP code identifies a delivery area, not a person — the results contain no personal data whatsoever, just public geographic information (code, city, county, state).

Does it work offline / is my data private?

The generator runs entirely in your browser: the zip-code dataset ships with the page and the random draw happens on your device. Nothing you do here is sent to a server.
