A knight's name should arrive already carrying a coat of arms. Sir Aldous of Graymoor sounds like he has a castle and a grudge; Dame Elise Fontaine sounds like she'll win the tournament and the argument afterwards. This generator builds knight names in that mould — a noble title, a name rooted in European tradition, and a line of flavour describing the deeds or virtues that made the knight worth naming.
It draws on English, French and German naming traditions and pairs each name with a title (Sir, Dame or Lord), so results read as chivalric out of the box, whether for a historical setting or a high-fantasy one.
How to use it
The length control sets the grandeur. Short names (Sir Bran, Dame Cael) read as working knights — sworn swords, tournament riders, the ones who do the fighting. Longer names with an epithet or a holding (Lord Reynard de Valmont the Undefeated) read as famous champions, lords of the realm, the knight the ballad is about.
Complexity decides how ornate the name and its style feel. Simple stays close to recognisable European names; elaborate adds particles (de, von), holdings and honorific epithets for a grander, more storied ring.
Use extra context to fix era, culture and character:

Will these fit my fantasy or historical setting?
Yes — the European chivalric conventions here are the ones both real medieval history and most fantasy settings share, so a name generated for "English tournament knight" reads correctly in a historical game and a homebrew realm alike. Are the titles historically accurate?
Loosely. "Sir" and "Dame" are the correct forms of address for a knighted man and woman in the English tradition, while "Lord" signals higher nobility rather than knighthood specifically. The generator uses them for flavour, not as a rank chart — if your setting has its own honorifics, name them in the context box and it will follow.
Can I use a generated knight name in my game or novel?
Yes — personal names aren't protected by copyright, so these are yours to use. The only caution is a full name that happens to match a well-known historical or fictional knight; a quick search settles it before you commit.
Why do repeated runs reuse the same names?
Chivalric vocabulary clusters around a handful of noble roots and epithets, so large batches throw up near-duplicates. Those are filtered before you see them, and pressing Generate again nudges the model toward names it hasn't shown you.
