What does this tool do?
Most schools and colleges set a minimum attendance percentage — often 75% — to sit an exam or stay enrolled. This calculator answers two versions of that question:
- Attendance percentage — how many classes you've attended out of how many were held, as a plain percentage.
- Plan ahead — given how many classes are left this term and a target percentage, how many of those remaining classes you must attend to hit the target, and how many you can safely skip.
Why "classes needed" isn't just simple math
Skipping a class doesn't just fail to add to your attended count — it also adds to the total classes held, which dilutes your percentage further. That means even if you're already above your target today, you may still need to attend some of the classes still to come, because the total keeps growing. This calculator accounts for that: it solves for the smallest whole number of remaining classes you need to attend so that your final attendance, once the term is done, meets the target — not just your attendance today.
If attending every single remaining class still wouldn't reach the target, the calculator tells you that directly, along with the best percentage you could still reach.

FAQ
What if I've already attended every class?
Enter the same number for classes attended and total held. In plan-ahead mode, the calculator still checks whether you can afford to skip any of the remaining classes without dropping under your target.
Does a half-attended class count?
No — this treats attendance as whole classes only, and rounds the number of classes still needed up to the next whole class, so hitting the reported number always meets or slightly exceeds your target rather than falling just short of it.
