What MP4 to GIF does
Turn a short MP4 clip into an animated GIF you can drop into chats, docs and web pages. Upload the file, choose which part to keep, set the frame rate and width, and download the GIF. Everything runs in your browser — the video is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Upload an MP4 file.
- Drag the trim handles to pick the section you want.
- Choose a frame rate and output width — lower values give smaller files.
- Click convert, preview the GIF, then download it.
Good to know
Your browser decodes the video, so if it can play the clip it can convert it. Some browsers cannot play every MP4 codec (e.g. HEVC); if the preview stays blank, re-encode the video as H.264. GIFs are large for their length, so keep clips short and widths modest. Very long clips are capped at 200 frames, which lowers the effective frame rate.
Privacy
Frame extraction and GIF encoding both happen on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
