The QR Code Decoder reads the hidden text out of a QR-code image. Drop in a screenshot or a saved picture of a QR code and it shows you exactly what the code says — a website link, a Wi-Fi password, a contact card, a payment string, or plain text — so you can see where a code leads before you point your phone at it.
How to use it
- Upload a QR-code image — PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP or BMP all work.
- The tool decodes it automatically and shows the payload.
- Copy the decoded text, and if it's a link, open it in a new tab.
It reads one QR code per image. For the best results, use a clear, reasonably straight image where the whole code is visible with a little white space around it.
What it can read
QR codes encode ordinary text, but that text often follows a convention an app knows how to act on:
- Website URLs —

The decoder shows you the raw payload for any of these, so you can inspect a Wi-Fi password or verify a link's real destination.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding happens entirely in your browser using your device's own processing — the image never leaves your computer and nothing is stored on a server. That makes it safe for QR codes containing passwords or personal contact details.
Why won't my image decode?
Usually the code is blurry, cropped, at a steep angle, or too small in the frame. Try a sharper image, make sure the entire code including its quiet-zone border is visible, and avoid heavy glare or reflections.
