Electric charge is the SI quantity measured in coulombs (C), where one coulomb is the charge transported by one ampere of current flowing for one second. Everyday electronics work in milli-, micro-, nano-, and picocoulombs because a single coulomb is an enormous amount of charge — a AA battery stores only a few thousand coulombs over its life. At the other end of the scale, chemists and physicists use the elementary charge (the charge on a single proton or electron) and the faraday (the charge of one mole of electrons), while the statcoulomb survives from the older CGS electrostatic unit system. This converter bridges all of them without hunting for conversion factors.

What is the elementary charge?
The elementary charge (e) is the electric charge carried by a single proton (positive) or electron (negative): exactly 1.602176634 × 10⁻¹⁹ coulombs. Since the 2019 redefinition of the SI base units, this value is fixed by definition rather than measured, which is why the converter uses it to full precision.
What is a faraday used for?
The faraday (F) equals the total charge of one mole of electrons — 96,485.33212 C, derived from the elementary charge times Avogadro's number. It's the standard unit for calculating charge in electrochemistry, such as how much charge is needed to deposit a given amount of metal during electroplating.
How do I convert coulombs to statcoulombs?
Multiply coulombs by roughly 2,997,924,580 to get statcoulombs (the exact factor is 1 / 3.3356409519815204 × 10⁻¹⁰). The statcoulomb comes from the older CGS-esu system, where charge is defined electrostatically rather than through current, so the conversion factor traces back to the speed of light.
