Electric current is the SI quantity measured in amperes (A), where one ampere is the flow of roughly 6.24 × 10¹⁸ electrons per second past a point in a circuit. Everyday electronics work in milli- and microamperes — a phone charger draws a couple of amps, an LED a few tens of milliamps, and a microcontroller's sleep current can drop into the microamp or nanoamp range. At the industrial end, kiloamperes and megaamperes describe currents in power transmission, lightning strikes, and particle accelerators. The statampere and abampere are legacy CGS units — electrostatic and electromagnetic respectively — that still turn up in older physics texts and reference tables. This converter bridges all of them without hunting for conversion factors.

What is a statampere?
The statampere (statA) is the unit of current in the CGS electrostatic system, defined so that two charges of one statcoulomb each, one centimeter apart, repel with a force of one dyne. It equals approximately 3.336 × 10⁻¹⁰ A — an extremely small current — and mainly appears in older electromagnetism texts that use Gaussian units instead of SI.
What is an abampere?
The abampere (abA), also called the biot, is the unit of current in the CGS electromagnetic system. It is defined so that one abampere flowing through each of two parallel wires one centimeter apart produces a force of exactly 2 dynes per centimeter of length between them, which works out to exactly 10 amperes in SI units.
How do I convert amperes to milliamperes?
Multiply amperes by 1,000 to get milliamperes, since "milli-" means one-thousandth. To go the other way, divide milliamperes by 1,000. The same 1,000× pattern applies moving between any adjacent SI prefix pair (amps to kiloamps, milliamps to microamps, and so on).
