Common cocktail measurement units
- Dash — the smallest common pour, roughly 1/32 fl oz (~0.92 ml), traditionally a quick flick of a bitters bottle.
- Splash — a loose, informal pour of about 1/8 fl oz (~3.7 ml), typically used for topping off a drink.
- Barspoon — roughly 1 teaspoon (~5 ml), measured with the back of a bar spoon.
- Teaspoon / Tablespoon — standard kitchen measures (~4.93 ml and ~14.79 ml) that show up in classic recipes.
- Pony — exactly 1 fluid ounce (~29.57 ml), the smaller half of a two-sided jigger.
- Jigger / Shot — the standard US bar pour, 1.5 fl oz (~44.36 ml), used for most spirit-forward cocktails.
- Double — a double shot, 3 fl oz (~88.72 ml).

FAQ
How many ml is a shot? A standard US shot (and jigger) is 1.5 fl oz, which is about 44.36 ml.
How many dashes are in a teaspoon? About 5.3 dashes make up 1 teaspoon (4.93 ml ÷ 0.92 ml).
Is a jigger the same as a shot? In US bartending they're generally treated as the same volume — 1.5 fl oz — though some jiggers are dual-sided with a 1 oz (pony) measure on the other end.
Why do my numbers look slightly different from another source? Bar measurements like "dash" and "splash" aren't governed by an official standard — different bars and recipe books use slightly different approximations. This converter uses widely accepted bartending conventions.
