Give a photo that warm, muddy, old-box-camera look — the Brownie Photo tool applies a fixed brownish color matrix over your image, then layers on a darkened vignette, a hint of film grain, and (optionally) a cream-colored aged-paper tint, with sliders for how strong each piece is.
How it works
Upload an image, then adjust the settings:
- Contrast Reduction — reshapes the tonal range of the toned photo. Higher values push it further from the default.
- Vignette Strength — darkens the edges and corners with a warm brown tint, like light falloff from an old camera lens.
- Film Grain — adds a speckled, brownish grain texture across the photo.
- Random Aged Effect — a checkbox that adds a soft cream-colored tint toward the edges, simulating yellowed, aged photo paper.
The result renders instantly as you adjust the controls. You can download the result as an SVG file, or copy its source markup directly.
Tips
- Leave Vignette Strength around its default (40%) for a classic worn-lens look — push it higher for a heavier, more dramatic frame.
- A little Film Grain (10–20%) reads as authentic texture; past 30% it starts to dominate the photo.
- Toggle off Random Aged Effect if your photo already has warm tones and doesn't need the extra cream tint.
- The downloaded SVG stays crisp at any size since it's a vector wrapper around your original image — resizing it doesn't lose quality the way a rasterized export would.
