Guides
Bring out edges and fine detail in a soft or slightly blurry photo with the Sharpen Image tool — a single intensity slider controls how aggressively edges are enhanced.
How it works
Upload an image and adjust the Intensity slider from 0 (no change) to 1 (maximum sharpening). The tool applies an edge-enhancing convolution — the same kind of "unsharp" kernel used by photo editors — that boosts the contrast right at edges while leaving flat, low-detail areas alone.
The result renders instantly as you move the slider. Download the result as an SVG file, or copy its source markup directly.
Tips
- Start around 0.3–0.5 intensity — going much higher can introduce visible haloing around high-contrast edges, especially on already-sharp source photos.
- Sharpening can't recover detail that was never captured (like on a heavily blurred or low-resolution source) — it enhances existing edges rather than inventing new detail.
- If an image looks slightly soft after resizing or scanning, a light sharpen pass (0.2–0.3) is usually enough to correct it.
