What MKV to MP3 does

Matroska MKV files often hold audio you want on its own — a movie rip or an OBS recording. Upload your MKV file, pick an MP3 bitrate, and download just the soundtrack as a standard MP3. The conversion happens in your browser — your file is never uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Upload a MKV file.
  2. Choose a bitrate (128–192 kbps suits most music, 64–96 kbps is fine for speech) and optionally mix down to mono.
  3. Click Convert to MP3, preview the result, then download it.

Good to know

The audio track is decoded by your browser's built-in decoder, so if your browser can play the file's sound, it can convert it. Some browsers can't decode certain MKV audio codecs (for example AC3 or DTS tracks); in that case re-save the video with AAC audio first. Long videos are decoded fully in memory, so very large files may be slow on low-memory devices.

Privacy

Decoding and MP3 encoding both run on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
