How to use it
- Drop or browse for a password-protected PDF file.
- Enter the PDF's current password.

Why unlock a PDF in the browser?
Most online PDF unlockers upload your document to a server to remove the password. This one does the whole job locally using qpdf compiled to WebAssembly, so contracts, statements, and anything else sensitive stay on your computer. There's no upload or download round-trip, so unlocking even a large PDF is near-instant.
Can this recover a forgotten password?
No. This tool only removes a password you already know and enter correctly — it does not attempt to crack, guess, or brute-force an unknown password. If you don't know the password, this tool can't help; you'll need to get it from whoever protected the file.
Why does it say the password is wrong when I'm sure it's right?
Double-check for extra spaces, autocorrect capitalization, or a mixed-up owner vs. open password if the file has both. Some PDFs use different passwords to open the file versus to change permissions — enter the one that opens it.
Is the unlocked file safe to share?
The unlocked PDF has no password protection at all, so treat it like any other unprotected document. If you only wanted to relax specific permissions (like printing) rather than remove the open password entirely, consider using Protect PDF afterward to re-encrypt with an owner password only.
