What AAC to WAV does
AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) is the codec behind most iTunes, YouTube and streaming audio, but editors, samplers and many production tools want plain, uncompressed WAV. Upload your AAC file and download a 16-bit PCM WAV you can drop straight into a DAW or video editor. The conversion happens in your browser — your file is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Upload a AAC file.
- Optionally mix down to mono to halve the file size.
- Click Convert to WAV, preview the result, then download it.
Good to know
WAV is uncompressed, so the file will be several times larger than the original, and converting from a lossy format can't restore detail that was already discarded. The file is decoded by your browser's built-in audio decoder, so if your browser can play it, it can convert it. DRM-protected files can't be decoded.
Privacy
Decoding and WAV encoding both run on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
