Add Text to GIF

Burn a text caption onto every frame of an animated GIF (or a photo) — pick where it sits, the font, size, color and outline, then download the result. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded to a server.

How to use it

1. Upload an image (JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP) or an animated GIF.
2. Type the caption text — it can span multiple lines, and long lines wrap automatically to fit the image width.
3. Pick a position from the 9-way grid (top/middle/bottom × left/center/right), a font from the searchable list, a size, a text color, and an optional outline/stroke with its own color and width.

The preview updates automatically a moment after you stop typing or dragging — there's no button to click. Once it looks right, download the result.

Does this work on animated GIFs?

Yes. Every frame is decoded, the same caption is composited onto each one in its exact position and style, and the result is re-encoded with the original per-frame delay intact. Loop forever is checked by default so the output keeps looping like most GIFs; uncheck it to make it play once and stop on its last frame.

How is this different from White Box Caption or the Meme Generator?

White Box Caption adds a solid-color bar above or below the image — it grows the canvas and never draws over the picture itself. Meme Generator is a fixed Impact-font, top/bottom-only overlay with no font or position choice. This tool draws whatever you type, in whatever font/size/color/position you pick, directly on top of the image or GIF — closer to a general-purpose caption tool than either of those.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Images are captioned directly with the Canvas API, and GIFs are decoded and re-encoded with client-side libraries (gifuct-js/gifenc) — nothing you upload or type ever leaves your browser.
