The Meme Generator adds classic top-and-bottom captions to a photo of your choice, in the bold outlined style memes have used for years, then lets you download the result as a PNG. Everything runs in your browser — your image is never uploaded to a server.
How to use it
- Upload the image you want to caption.
- Type your top text and bottom text. Text is automatically uppercased and wraps onto extra lines if it's too wide for the image.
- Adjust the font size, top/bottom text offset, text color and outline color until it looks right — the preview updates live. Offsets are a percentage of the image's own height, so they scale sensibly at any resolution, and the top and bottom offsets move each caption independently — closer to or further from the image edge — so they don't have to sit at matching distances.
- Click Download PNG to save the finished meme.
Why an outline?
The bold color-on-outline look (white fill, black outline by default) is what makes meme captions readable over any background, busy or plain. Both colors are adjustable if you want a different look — try black text with a white or yellow outline for a lighter image.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is decoded and composited entirely in your browser using the Canvas API; it's never sent to a server. Nothing you upload or type is stored.
Can I use my own template, not just a photo?
Yes — upload any image file (a photo, a screenshot, an existing meme template you already have saved). There's no built-in template library; bring whichever image you want captioned.
