White Box Caption

Add a classic white caption bar above (or below) a photo or animated GIF — bold black text, auto-sized and wrapped to fit — then download the result. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded to a server.

How it works

1. Upload an image (JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP) or an animated GIF.
2. Type one or two lines of caption text. The font size is chosen automatically so the text fills the bar without overflowing, wrapping onto extra lines if it's too long.
3. Pick whether the bar sits above or below the image, its text alignment, and the bar/text colors.
4. Click Add caption, then download the result.

How is this different from the Meme Generator?

This tool grows the canvas: the caption sits inside its own solid-color bar, so the photo or GIF underneath is completely untouched. Meme Generator instead prints outlined text directly on top of the image in the classic Impact-font meme style, without adding any extra space. Use White Box Caption for the "iFunny"/screenshot-caption look; use Meme Generator when you want the text overlaid on the picture itself.

Does this work on animated GIFs?

Yes. Every frame is decoded, the same fixed caption bar is composited onto each one, and the result is re-encoded with the original per-frame delay intact. Loop forever is checked by default so the output keeps looping like most GIFs; uncheck it to make it play once and stop on its last frame.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Images are captioned directly with the Canvas API, and GIFs are decoded and re-encoded with client-side libraries — nothing you upload or type ever leaves your browser.

Can I put the caption below the image instead?

Yes — the Position control lets you choose above or below; the rest (auto-fit text, colors, alignment) works identically either way.
