Camera Recorder
Record video from your webcam and microphone right in the browser — preview live, pick a camera, and download the clip as WebM. Nothing is uploaded; the recording never leaves your device.
Camera Recorder
Everything happens on your device — the recording is never uploaded anywhere.
Guides
Record video straight from your webcam and microphone, right here in the browser. Grant camera access, preview yourself live, hit record, and download the clip when you're done — no software to install, no account, no upload.
How do I use it?
- Choose whether to record audio from your microphone with the toggle, and pick a camera if your device has more than one.
- Click Start camera and allow access when your browser asks — you'll see a live preview.
- Click Start recording to begin capturing. A red REC badge with a running timer shows while it's recording.
- Click Stop recording when you're finished. The clip appears below, ready to play back.
- Click Download to save the file, or Record again to keep the camera running and capture another take.
What format does it save as?
The recording is saved as a .webm file (or .mp4 on browsers, like Safari, that don't support WebM recording) using whatever your browser's MediaRecorder produces natively — no conversion step, so there's no quality loss or extra wait.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Camera Recorder never sends your video or audio to a server — the stream is captured, previewed and encoded entirely by your own browser, and the finished clip only ever exists as a local, in-page file until you download it. Close or reload the tab and it's gone; nothing is stored or transmitted.
Why does my browser ask for camera and microphone permission?
Browsers require an explicit permission prompt before any site can access a camera or microphone, as a privacy safeguard. If you accidentally deny it, click the camera icon in your browser's address bar to change the permission, then click Start camera again.
Why can't I see other cameras in the list?
Most browsers only reveal camera names once you've granted permission at least once on this page — before that, the picker just offers "Default camera". After you click Start camera the first time, any other connected cameras appear by name and you can switch between them live.
Can I record without audio?
Yes — turn off "Record audio from microphone" before starting the camera (or while the preview is live) and the recording will be video-only.
