Keccak Hash Generator
Generate a Keccak hash (Keccak-224, Keccak-256, Keccak-384, Keccak-512) of any text, in hexadecimal or base64 — the Ethereum-style Keccak-256 — and optionally verify it against an expected hash.
Input
Hex comparison is case-insensitive; base64 is case-sensitive.
Output
Only shown when an expected hash is provided.

Generate a Keccak hash — Keccak-224, Keccak-256, Keccak-384 or Keccak-512 — of any text, right in your browser. Choose hexadecimal or base64 output and optionally paste an expected hash to verify it. Nothing you type leaves your device.
Keccak vs. SHA-3
Keccak is the sponge function that won NIST's SHA-3 competition. When NIST standardized it as FIPS 202, it changed the padding byte, so standard SHA-3 and original Keccak give different digests for the same input. This tool uses the original Keccak padding — the one used by Ethereum, where keccak256 hashes addresses, function selectors and storage slots. For standardized SHA-3, use the SHA-3 Hash Generator instead.
For example, Keccak-256 of abc is 4e03657aea45a94fc7d47ba826c8d667c0d1e6e33a64a036ec44f58fa12d6c45, while SHA3-256 of abc is 3a985da7….
How to use
- Enter your message.
- Pick the output size (Keccak-256 is the Ethereum default).
- Choose hex (lower/upper) or base64.
- Copy the result, or paste an expected hash to check for a match.
Can I hash an Ethereum function signature?
Yes. Hashing transfer(address,uint256) with Keccak-256 and taking the first 4 bytes gives the selector a9059cbb.
