What MKV to MOV does
Turn a MKV video into a MOV file for QuickTime, Final Cut, iMovie and other Apple-friendly editors. The conversion runs in your browser, so the video is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Upload a MKV file.
- Pick a video quality (bitrate).
- Click Convert to MOV, preview the result, then download it.
Good to know
Your browser plays the video and re-records it, so conversion takes about as long as the clip itself — keep the tab open. Your browser has to be able to play the file: MKV files holding codecs your browser does not support (such as HEVC or AC3 audio) cannot be decoded, in which case you will see an error rather than a broken file. MOV and MP4 share the same container, so the result is H.264/AAC with a .mov extension; if a browser cannot record that, it saves WebM instead and says so. Re-encoding is lossy; raise the quality for detailed footage.
Privacy
Playback and encoding happen on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
