Guides

A succubus name has to seduce and unsettle in the same breath. Too soft and it reads as a pop star; too harsh and you've lost the allure that's the whole point. This generator threads that needle — names that sound sensual and mysterious with a demonic undercurrent — and explains the meaning or inspiration behind each one.

It aims for names that could belong to a fantasy temptress, a horror antagonist or a tabletop villain, leaning on dark, otherworldly vocabulary rather than anything you'd find on a birth certificate.

How to use it

Length sets the register. Short names (Lil, Vesh, Nyx) read as a whispered alias or a summoned true name; longer ones (Serathine Duskbloom, Lamiastra the Velvet) read as a full infernal title, the kind that comes with a court and a reputation.

Complexity decides how far the sound leans into the demonic. Simple stays smooth and pronounceable — sultry without effort. Elaborate adds sibilant clusters and archaic flourishes for something that sounds bound to the Abyss.

Use extra context to fix the tone and setting:

  • "high fantasy, courtly, sounds like nobility"
  • "modern horror, a name that could pass as human until it doesn't"
  • "true name versus the alias she uses among mortals"
  • "based on Lilith and Mesopotamian demon lore"

What makes a good succubus name?

Tension. The strongest results pair a soft, melodic sound with a dark meaning — a name that's pleasant to say but points at something predatory underneath. A purely harsh name loses the seduction; a purely pretty one loses the threat. The description tells you which lever each name is pulling.

Can I get a "true name" and a mortal alias?

Yes — ask for it in the context box. A common trope is that a succubus has a hidden true name (harsh, ancient, power over her if spoken) and a smoother alias she uses among mortals. Request both and the generator will give you a matched pair with the contrast built in.

Can I use one of these names for my character?

Yes. Short invented names aren't protected by copyright, so a generated succubus name is yours to use in a game, story or campaign. As always, the model has read widely in fantasy and horror, so if a name feels strikingly familiar, search it before committing — you may have been handed something close to an existing character.
