Overlay PDF stamps one page from a second PDF — a letterhead, background template, logo sheet, or watermark design — onto the pages of your main document, right in your browser. Choose which pages get it, whether it stretches to fill the page or keeps its own size centered, and how opaque it is, then download the combined file.
How to use it
- Upload your base PDF — the document you want to stamp.
- Upload your overlay PDF — its first page is the design that gets placed on top. A single-page letterhead, background, or stamp works best.
- Choose Apply to: every page, the first page only (a cover-page letterhead), or the last page only (a closing stamp).
- Choose Fit: Stretch to fill page matches the overlay to each base page's exact size — the usual choice for a full-page letterhead or background — or Original size, centered keeps the overlay's own dimensions, centered on the page (only scaled down if it's larger than the page).
- Adjust Opacity if you want the overlay to show through the base content instead of sitting fully solid on top.
- Press Overlay PDF. The combined file downloads automatically as
overlaid.pdf.
Why overlay a PDF in the browser?
Most online overlay tools upload both documents to a server first. This one does the whole job locally using the pdf-lib library, so contracts, letterheads and anything else private never leave your device. There's no upload or download round-trip, so it's also near-instant.
What if my overlay PDF has more than one page?
Only its first page is used as the stamp — every target page in the base PDF gets that same design. If you need a different overlay per page, split your overlay PDF first with Split PDF and run this tool once per page.
How is this different from Watermark PDF?
Watermark PDF stamps plain text you type in. Overlay PDF stamps an entire page — a designed letterhead, logo, background image, or stamp you've already built as a PDF — which is what you want for anything more than a text label.
Will this work on a password-protected PDF?
A PDF with an owner lock but no open password usually overlays fine. A file that requires a password just to open must be unlocked first — use the Unlock PDF tool, then overlay the result.
