Background Changer

Swap a photo's background for a solid color or an entirely different image, without opening a design app. This tool detects the main subject automatically — no manual masking or lasso tool — then lets you drop in whatever's behind them.

How to use it

1. Upload your photo (JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF or BMP).
2. Run the cutout — this uses one credit and detects the subject automatically.
3. Choose a Solid color and pick it with the color picker, or switch to Image and upload a background photo.
4. The composited result updates live as you change the background — download it once it looks right.

How it works

The subject detection runs on our servers (the same model Background Remover uses), which is what costs the one credit. Once that comes back as a cutout, choosing a color or background image and blending the two together all happens instantly in your own browser — so you can try several backgrounds without paying for another cutout.

Does it work on any photo?

It works best with a single, clearly separated subject — a person, product, or animal against a background that contrasts with them. Busy scenes with several overlapping subjects, or a subject that blends closely into the background color, can get a rougher edge.

What if I just want the background gone, not replaced?
