Guides

Squeeze a photo's tonal range into a narrower band — the Clip Image tool clamps every pixel's red, green and blue channels to a minimum and maximum value, then boosts contrast within that clipped range so the result stays punchy instead of looking flat.

How it works

Upload an image, then set two values:

  • Minimum Value — any color channel value below this is clipped up to it (0-255).
  • Maximum Value — any color channel value above this is clipped down to it (0-255).

Everything between the minimum and maximum is remapped and given a gamma boost, so midtones inside the clipped range gain contrast rather than just sitting flatly between the two bounds. The result renders instantly as you adjust the sliders. You can download the result as an SVG file, or copy its source markup directly.

Tips

  • Raise the minimum and lower the maximum together to crush both shadows and highlights for a bold, poster-like look.
  • Leave the maximum near 255 and only raise the minimum to lift and flatten shadow detail while keeping highlights untouched.
  • Leave the minimum near 0 and only lower the maximum to tame blown-out highlights while keeping shadow detail untouched.
  • The downloaded SVG stays crisp at any size since it's a vector wrapper around your original image — resizing it doesn't lose quality the way a rasterized export would.
