Give a photo that raised, carved-relief look without losing its colors — the Color Emboss Effect tool blends contrast, a gentle saturation boost, a light-direction brightness nudge and a soft sharpen pass, so the image reads as embossed while still looking like a photograph, not a gray metal plate.
How it works
Upload an image, then adjust two sliders:
- Emboss Angle — the simulated direction the "light" hits the image from, in degrees (0–360). The tool splits the wheel into four quadrants and nudges brightness up by a different amount in each one, giving the embossed look a subtle sense of direction.
- Emboss Amount — the overall strength of the effect, from barely-there (near 0%) to a strong, punchy emboss (100%). This one slider scales the contrast boost, the saturation boost, the brightness nudge and the sharpen kernel together.
The result renders instantly as you adjust the sliders. You can download the result as an SVG file, or copy its source markup directly.
Tips
- Start with the amount around 40–60% — much higher and the sharpen pass can start to look noisy on busy or high-detail photos.
- The angle mostly matters at higher amounts; at low amounts the brightness difference between quadrants is subtle enough that any angle looks similar.
- Photos with clear, well-lit subjects and moderate detail (portraits, product shots) tend to show the embossed depth more clearly than very busy or very flat images.
- The downloaded SVG stays crisp at any size since it's a vector wrapper around your original image — resizing it doesn't lose quality the way a rasterized export would.
