WAV to MP3
Convert a WAV file to MP3 — choose the bitrate, preview the result and download. Runs entirely in your browser; the file is never uploaded.
Input
Higher bitrate = better quality, bigger file. 128–192 kbps suits most music; 64–96 kbps is fine for speech.
MP3 audio

What WAV to MP3 does
WAV files are uncompressed and huge — a few minutes of audio can run to tens of megabytes. Converting to MP3 shrinks them by roughly ten times while staying playable on every device. Upload your WAV, pick a bitrate, and download a standard MP3. The conversion happens in your browser, so your file is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Upload a WAV file.
- Pick an MP3 bitrate (higher means better quality and a bigger file) and optionally mix down to mono.
- Click Convert to MP3, preview the result, then download it.
Good to know
MP3 is lossy, so keep your original WAV if you may edit it again. 128 kbps suits speech, 192–320 kbps suits music. The WAV is decoded by your browser's built-in decoder and encoded with a pure-JavaScript LAME build.
Privacy
Decoding and MP3 encoding both run on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
