End the what-should-we-watch debate: draw random movies from 500 acclaimed titles, each shown with its poster, release year, genre and IMDb rating. Filter to 7+ or 8+ ratings when only a great film will do.
How to use it
- Choose how many movies to draw (1–40).
- Optionally set a minimum IMDb rating — Any, 7+, or 8+.
- Hit Pick movies. Every run is a fresh draw with no repeats.
What is this for?
- Movie night roulette — commit to whatever comes up; it's the fastest way past decision paralysis.
- Building a watchlist — draw ten, keep the ones you haven't seen.
- Film clubs — a neutral way to choose next week's screening.
- Games — guess the plot from the poster, or pitch the movie from its title alone.
What movies are in the pool?
500 widely acclaimed films across decades and genres — think The Godfather, 12 Angry Men, 12 Years a Slave — with a strong skew toward critically celebrated titles, so even a fully random pick is rarely a dud. Each entry carries its year, genre and IMDb rating.
Can I only get highly rated movies?
Yes — set the minimum rating to 7+ or 8+ and the draw only considers films at or above that IMDb score.
Can the same movie appear twice?
Not in a single run — draws are without replacement. Run it again for a new set.
Does it work offline / is my data private?
The picker runs entirely in your browser — the movie list ships with the page and the random draw happens on your device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
